2 800 m. above sea level

Best season

July-September - trail clear of snow, alpine flowers

Day 1: The trail starts just outside Shovi and early stages of the hike passes through a rather dense forest with a steep climb and mixed woods. The trail then opens onto an alpine meadow, heading up to the river valley with seasonal flowers and glaciers in view - here the trail is mostly flat and easy to follow. After a while the trail continues between Katitsvera mountain and Dolomisistsveri and heads down towards the lake. Access to lake is not long, however, given the terrain, it takes a while. A camp can be set up by the lake or on a nearby hill.

Day 2: If you wake up early in the morning, you will have an opportunity to enjoy unforgettable views at dawn. Given that the second day mostly involves descent, you will have ample time to enjoy the lake and mountain views. Within a short climb from the lake, which shall take approximately 15 minutes, you can enjoy a scenic viewpoint of the Caucasus.  The trail towards the village Glola involved descend through valleys, pine and mixed forests.

The entire trail is well-marked and therefore, the risk of getting lost is rather low. However, beware of wild animals, including bears and wolves.
