Oni Museum of Local Lore
Located in the heart of Oni, the Oni Museum of Local Lore is one of the most important cultural institutions in the Racha region, offering a rich journey through the municipality’s history, archaeology, and ethnography. Founded in the mid-20th century, the museum houses a diverse collection of artifacts spanning from the Bronze Age to the late medieval period, including archaeological discoveries, traditional tools, manuscripts, numismatic collections, and examples of local craftsmanship.
Particularly noteworthy are the exhibits reflecting Oni’s multicultural past, including materials connected to the region’s historic Jewish community, as well as displays that document traditional Rachan lifestyle, mountain agriculture, and folk traditions. Thoughtfully curated and deeply rooted in local scholarship, the museum provides visitors with essential context for understanding Oni’s cultural landscape, making it a must-visit starting point for exploring the heritage of Upper Racha.
